Quiet.
Tessa Kennedy had forgotten how good quiet sounded. She looked out over her backyard to the glory of a Colorado mountain sunrise, watching the steam rise serenely from her coffee cup.
A quiet Monday morning like this hadn’t happened in ages. Not with the chaos of a teenage son. Greg was a one-man tornado of temper and hormones, and they’d locked horns so many times in the past three weeks, she was worn thin from the strain. Even on the drive to the airport yesterday afternoon to spend most of July with his dad, Greg had stomped on her every last nerve.
