Rendezvous: reader and writer gathering
November 7, 2026
Holiday Inn Nashville Airport

Readers and Writers will gather at the fourth annual Read Write Rendezvous, organized and sponsored by JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC, on November 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. CT at the Holiday Inn Nashville Airport. Rendezvous celebrates Christian fiction and sweet reads, featuring corporate worship, speaker sessions, author panels, small-group discussions, games, giveaways, a pop-up bookshop, and book signings.

This event aims to sweeten reading and storytelling experiences with fellowship and encouragement. Over forty featured authors are participating, including The Christy Award Hall of Fame and bestselling author Tamera Alexander who will deliver the keynote address. USA Today and top ten Publishers Weekly bestselling author Lisa Phillips will lead worship. We prayerfully honor the legacy of the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat through each Rendezvous event, and this year we are especially celebrating the very first CFRR which was held 10 years ago in Nashville.

Rendezvous is open only to registered attendees. Want to extend your reader getaway? The Christy Award Gala and Art of Writing conference will be held at a nearby venue on November 6.

If you’re unable to attend Rendezvous this year, we don’t want you to miss out on getting to know our authors and their books. Our bloggers are bringing Rendezvous to you by spotlighting several of the participating authors this week. Follow along to grow your TBR list to astronomical proportions!

about the book

A broken engagement. An unexpected inheritance. A second chance neither of them saw coming.

After her life takes an unexpected turn, Sarah Crawford heads to South Carolina hoping for rest, clarity, and a fresh perspective. The last thing she expects is to inherit part of a property—or to meet the man determined to take it from her.

Jared Benton has a plan to protect the business he helped build, and it doesn’t include a small-town schoolteacher with big decisions to make. But the more time he spends with Sarah, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them… and the questions her presence raises.

Especially when Sarah begins to wonder if her recurring dream about the house—and a man she’s never met—might not be a coincidence after all.

As past hurts and future hopes collide, Sarah and Jared must choose between the safety of what they’ve always known… and the risk of trusting God with what comes next.

If you enjoy clean romance filled with faith, healing, and heartfelt connection, this story will leave you smiling.

excerpt

The road to the house was just off the main road, to the left. They passed some modest homes, and at the end of the road, they pulled into a drive marked by two brick gate-posts, the name “Pilot Oaks” on each, but no house was visible. As they navigated the curves through the landscaped property, a large white house finally came into view in an open area. She pulled her car to a stop in front of the house, then got out and stood, awestruck.

It wasn’t quite, but almost was, the house in her dream. The sense of déjà vu crept over her as she stood there, unable to speak. Every day since she had been in South Carolina, the dream had teased her in the fog of wakefulness each morning, and today she was faced with the reality of a brick and mortar house instead of a hazy image.

The house of her dream had been neglected, but this house was in pristine condition. The white paint gleamed in the sunlight, and the porches with their rocking chairs beckoned. Sarah drew in a large breath, the smell of the marsh and surf blending to create a heady scent that made her wonder if she had finally found what she sought. The sights, smells, and thoughts this place evoked in her were unexpected, and yet . . .

“This . . .” Sarah’s voice drifted into silence as she swept her hand toward the house. Tears filled her eyes, and she simply gestured in place of the words that would not come. She looked into Will Schumaker’s face as if to verify that what her ears had heard earlier was what her eyes saw in front of her. It was literally her dream come true.

His voice softened as he saw her tears and the look of utter astonishment on her face. “This is your house—well, yours, your sister’s, and your father’s. Your family members are the sole heirs of the house and grounds.” Mr. Schumaker stood beside her. “Pilot Oaks used to be part of three plantations that reached all the way from the Waccamaw River to the Atlantic Ocean. ’Course it’s been sold off, bit by bit, but somehow the various owners managed to maintain some marsh and some oceanfront property, which really adds to the value.” He looked at his watch and frowned slightly. “Looks like Jared isn’t here yet. I’ll let you in, and you can look around on your own ’til he gets here.”

A graceful stairway greeted her as she walked through the massive front door. Unlike the one in her dream, the banister on this stairway shone with love and care, polished to a satin finish. She touched it lightly and then walked slowly up the stairs to the second floor. She felt less like a trespasser with each tread, but in her mind, it was more like she had switched identities with someone from a far more blessed walk of life than she had experienced.

The tears threatened once again as she passed through each room, each one more beautiful than the last. She hurried, overwhelmed at the thought that her great-uncle had lived here. He had died here in fact, like many before him. The history and human drama that this house had seen overwhelmed her as she stared at the stained-glass window in the stairway landing.

The lump in her throat took away all thoughts but one. Thank you, God.

Sarah made her way down the stairs and was about to begin her exploration of the bottom floor when through the beveled sidelights of the front door, she saw Mr. Schumaker deep in conversation with someone on the porch.

She opened the front door to greet the person that she figured was her uncle’s business partner. As he turned, her eyes widened as they came in contact with the deepest pair of brown eyes she had ever seen. Brown eyes the color of dark chocolate, fringed with thick black lashes, dark brows gathered above them. The first time she had seen them, on the boardwalk, they had been relaxed. Friendly.

Why, suddenly, did she feel that those eyes were darkened in anger and not in delight at the prospect of meeting his new business partner?

about the author

Regina Rudd Merrick started her journey as a life-long lover of reading in first grade, and eventually parlayed that love of literature into a degree in library science, with stints as both elementary and middle school librarians, and currently as a public library director.

After finding the enjoyable world of reading and writing "fan-fiction"--original stories based on characters from familiar stories, television shows, and movies--she realized that for some reason God had given her the ability to weave a story, whether it be in this online community or with original characters. Her first novel, Carolina Dream, book one of the “Southern Breeze Series,” was the winner of a publishing contest with Mantle Rock Publishing, LLC (now Scrivenings Press), and her writing career was born.

Now the author of nine novels and a contributor to four novella collections, Regina writes about people like all of us who sometimes struggle with their faith and trusting God.

She wrapped up her “RenoVations Inc.” series with Reframing Trust, book 5, in 2025. Her next release is a 2026 Christmas novella, and she’s currently brainstorming her next full-length novel. One of her favorite projects was Window of Peace, a Historical romance set in the 1970s and book 3 of the “Stained-Glass Legacy” series, a 4-book, 4-author series set in 4 different time periods focused on one family and their connection with a stained-glass window.

Regina loves chocolate, the beach, providing keyboard and vocals in her church's praise band, historical homes, watching other people renovate on HGTV, and Hallmark movies. She and her husband of forty-plus years are empty nesters in rural western Kentucky and are the proud parents of two grown-up daughters, a son-in-law, and most important, she’s a grandmother for the first time.
