The Friday 56 & First Line Friday | My Hope Next Door

The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.
First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.

Happy Friday!

Today, I'm reading Tammy L. Gray's My Hope Next Door and I'm liking this small-town drama so far. Enjoy the peek into its pages!

First Line: The Fairfield water tower loomed over Katie's regrets like a guard she had to sneak past.

From Page 56: There was enough pot roast, potatoes, green beans, and coleslaw to feed an army, but he was more than ready to help polish it off.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Former bad girl Katie Stone can feel the weight of her reputation settle over her as she drives home for the first time in years. Feeling deeply guilty about her past mistakes, Katie wants to do the right thing for once. But the small town where she grew up is not nearly as forgiving as she’d hoped. Despite it all, she’s determined to help her parents cope with her mother’s recent illness, and Katie finds a surprise ally in the man next door.

Asher Powell never minded being the son of a small-town pastor until a recent breakup leaves him wounded by lifelong members of his church. He remembers his new neighbor as a mean-spirited high school troublemaker, but he senses that her newfound faith and desire for forgiveness are sincere.

Through an unexpected friendship, two people from different worlds find peace, hope, and a second chance they never dreamed was possible.

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

I'm sharing two first lines on my blog (because I'm featuring a dual-novella book), but for commenting, my first line comes from the book I'm currently reading: "Giver of Wonder" by Roseanna White.
"She would die today, one way or another."

I’m featuring Hometown Girl by Courtney Walsh on my blog, but I’m currently reading a non-fiction book called She’s Got The Wrong Guy: Why Smart Women Settle by Deepak Reju so I’ll use that today.

    Part 1:
    From Problems to Faith
When it comes to dating and marriage, what problems do you face as a single woman?

    Happy Reading!! :)

  10. My first line is from The Color of Redemption by Lynn Cornell:

"An eerie foreboding had jolted me from my sleep this morning, vexing my spirit - the kind of vexing that made me want to cower under my covers and stay in bed."
