ABOUT THE BOOK
Adam and Tara are sucked into a police investigation that might get Tara killed. Can Adam keep her safe or will he lose her forever?
Tara James, the local librarian assistant, is afraid her past will catch up to her when an infant is abandoned outside the Tipton County Library. Will news of the abandoned baby stir up publicity and force her to go on the run again?
Librarian Nancy Daley’s world has become complicated. Carter is pushing to set a wedding date, a woman was left for dead on the side of the road, and Tara, her assistant, is acting strange. Nancy is working every angle she can think of, but the case goes from bad to bizarre. Can she find the baby’s mother, help Tara, and plan her wedding without upsetting her life’s delicate balance?
Slow news days become a thing of the past for local reporter Adam Stacy when a dead body is discovered on the side of the road. Was the woman murdered or was it an accident? Adam’s feelings are growing for Tara, but she appears to have secrets she’s hiding. Is she somehow connected to the abandoned infant?
When things go from bad to worse Adam does everything in his power to protect Tara, but will it be enough?

EXCERPT
Tara turned and sucked in a quick breath. Where had this man been hiding? “He’s cute,” she whispered.
Nancy nodded. “He works for the local paper.”
“A reporter?”
Nancy nodded.
“I wonder what he’s doing here.” Tara hesitated then scooted off to help the man. “Hi, I’m Tara, Nancy’s assistant. Is there something I can help you with?”
The reporter nodded. “Yes. Thank you.” He held out his hand. “I’m Adam, a reporter for the Tipton Tribune. I’m doing a story on the history of crime in Tipton County. It will be a then and now kind of thing. Unfortunately, the Tribune’s archives weren’t much help thanks to a fire in the early 80s.”
“That’s an interesting topic. What inspired you?”
“The hit and run victim.”
His tone gave her pause and she noted the furrow of his brow. His full beard hid his mouth, but his soulful brown eyes spoke volumes. “Did you know her?”
He cleared his throat and shrugged. “Since I grew up here I’m guessing I might have, but the identity of the victim has not yet been released.”
It must be horrible not knowing. Hopefully it wasn’t anyone he knew. Death was always a tragedy, but when you knew the person it was so much worse. “It’s been quite a day in Tipton. I found an abandoned baby on my way into the library this morning.”
“You’re kidding?”
Maybe she shouldn’t have said anything about Amelia.
