Her body tossed in every direction. Was she upside down or right side up? She kicked her kegs, fighting to get her footing as the river whisked her downstream. Her head popped up for a quick gasp of air before she was sucked down again. Her leg slammed against a rock. Fear and adrenaline overrode the pain. A visual of her parents flashed before her eyes. Her dad’s surgery. Would she make it home? Her mom needed her. She had to fight. They’d be devastated if she never returned. This wasn’t the way she wanted to die.

A firm grip latched onto her arm and heaved her through the water. Hope of survival surged through her body. Who came to her rescue? Kendall? Blake?
