about the book
Charlie Newberg is sure about one thing: Nicole Lemaire is the woman God wants him to marry. There’s a slight problem, though—he’s already left her once. The day before their wedding. To make a documentary.
But he’s got a plan. The marketing firm she works for is the ideal choice for promoting his new film. Collaborating will give him the perfect chance to propose again, so he conspires with her boss to make sure she runs the campaign for the same kind of documentary Charlie left her—basically at the altar—for.
Despite Nicole’s resistance, the two work well together. But Charlie’s going to need more than teamwork to convince the jilted bride to give him a second chance. In fact, he might need to fall in love in a way he’s never really understood.

review
charlie's absolutely, positively sure that he's supposed to marry his ex-fiancée, nicole... now, they're working together to promote his new documentary—what could go wrong?
of course, nicole's still hurt from being left at the altar years ago by him, and the possibility of subjecting herself to that hurt a second time is too much of a risk. yet charlie's a little clueless, a little lost-in-his-own-world, which makes the first half of their exes-working-together romance fun—but also slightly off-putting? i had a hard time believing that charlie could almost make it to the altar without any understanding that his choices might not be received well (and still had no idea, years later).
but then, the story gets deeper in the second half, as charlie—along with nicole—realizes the opportunity for growth. for any chance at romance and a lasting relationship, change needed to happen in both of them—and seeing how it all played out definitely brought tears to my eyes. it's uplifting and hopeful, and i couldn't help rooting for charlie and nicole by the end.
as the third love off script book, previous couples, of course, make fun appearances through fiancé finale. i enjoyed seeing their stories tie together, really highlighting the found-family aspect of this friend group.
if you're looking for a cute and fun, but also faith-filled and thought-provoking romance, i easily recommend this one.
considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: strong faith themes, mentions of God, prayer, and church
—content: church hurt, mentions of cheating and parental death
