ooh, it's good to be back in the forest ranger rescuers series!
fire ranger clay reiger and fire marshal autumn jennings have history together, and on the day they discover they'll have to work together, they also get trapped in a burning barn. it's an ominous reunion, to say the least, but the partnership must continue, since neither one wants to let an arsonist go free...
as danger continues to mount against them, clay and autumn must also grapple with the personal ramifications of their history, as well as the changes that might make a new future possible between them. cold case arson investigation balances between their personal and professional challenges well, and i just really enjoyed their story. (as weird as it is to write, the arson felt like a nice change-up. i don't read too many books with that crime as the focus, so it definitely piqued my interest.)
it's a solid romantic-suspense book, full of action, danger, romance, and faith, and i'm sure that other readers of the genre will enjoy it as i did.
for readers of the series, there are some sweet moments with previous characters that make reading cold case arson investigation a little extra-special. (of course, if you haven't started the series yet though, you could still easily read this book.)
about the author
Kerry Johnson spent a magical childhood in New England roaming the woods, climbing mossy boulders, and reading everything she could get her hands on. She moved to Florida as a teen, reluctantly exchanging dirt for sand and snow for sunshine. Kerry lives on the sunny, stormy west coast of Florida with her patient engineering husband, two college-aged sons, and her teen niece. Their busy home also includes a lazy boxer, one very temperamental sun conure, a spotted leopard gecko, plus any stray cats who need food and TLC. (She still dreams of owning a horse one day.) She’s a longtime member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) and FHLCW (Faith Hope Love Christian Writers).
