The Friday 56 & First Line Friday | Someplace Familiar

The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.
First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.

Happy Friday (and March)!

I'm getting started on this book today, and I'm really looking forward to reading it. I hope it's as cute as it looks.

First Line: Not much had changed about Laurel Cove, North Carolina in the ten years since Livy Johnson had last visited.

From 56%: Though sleep tempted her, she couldn't wait to tell Jack all about this unexpected day.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Artist Livy Johnson needs a fresh start. That's what a broken heart and forgotten dreams can do to a person. On little more than a whim, she reclaims her grandmother’s old mountain cottage in quaint Laurel Cove, North Carolina and vows to restore its original charm. When she literally collides with childhood friend, Jack Bowdon, Livy wonders if she’s back for an entirely different reason.

Jack can’t believe his childhood crush is back. As the owner of Bowdon's Supplies, and once again the town's most eligible bachelor, he offers to help Livy with repairs. Together they embark on the project—and an undeniable whirlwind romance.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. Can they survive the destructive pain of their pasts to discover God’s grace waiting to renovate their hearts?

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

  1. This sounds like a nice romance. I'm spotlighting Lake Silence by Anne Bishop - her latest set in the world of The Others. Happy reading!

  2. I've seen this book around a lot of blogs lately. I will have to check it out. It sounds like a good read!

    Happy Friday!

Today I am showcasing the first line from Michelle Griep's newest novel, The Innkeeper's Daughter. I am loving the book. It is a page turner, and the hero is wonderful. I am just starting chapter 18, so I will share the first line from that chapter here:

"Johanna opened the door to chaos, then stood there, jaw agape."

  3. Happy Friday! The book I'm sharing on my blog is an old one: The Knight and the Dove by Lori Wick. Here, I will share Love on the Mend by Karen Witemeyer, "Peace and quiet. That's all he sought." Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Oops...lost my comment.

I love books that take us back to a hometown, and a grandmother's cottage is perfect.

Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “SUNBURN”

  5. Happy Friday! I’ve never heard of this author so thank you!😁

My First Line Friday comes from a book I will be reading soon, Before We Were Strangers by Brenda Novak!

As far back as Sloane McBride could remember, she’d been told she was an ice-queen. Even the people closest to her, especially the people closest to her, complained about her reserve.

    Have a great weekend!😁

  8. This is on my neverending to-read pile :)

I'm sharing from Firing Line by Mike Hollow on my blog today. It's a murder mystery set in London during the Blitz.

But here's the first line from the book I'm currently reading, Change of Heart by Courtney Walsh:

Evelyn Brandt stood in her kitchen, the sound of uptight laughter filtering in from the dining room.

    It's excellent!

  9. It does look cute! I’m sharing from Karen Barnett’s The Road to Paradise on my blog today, so here I’ll share the first line from another book I hope to read soon, The Alliance by Jolina Petersheim:

“Buffered by grassland, the collision is strangely quiet.”

    Happy reading!
