review
my favorite part of this movie: it shows Jesus as someone who probably joked around with a friend once in a while.
otherwise, i'm not really sure what to think of the carpenter... i think the story itself had the potential to be spiritually significant. an orphan, after losing his adoptive father, moves to nazareth, makes waves in the fighting community, and finds himself as apprentice to Jesus (before his ministry begins). it all, though, ended up meandering quite a bit (with some distractions, like minor modernities) and lacked the connections i needed to see to get a firm takeaway.
nevertheless, any depiction of Jesus provides me with some sort of food for thought, so i very much appreciate the carpenter for that.
of course, too, there are plenty of viewers that have wholly enjoyed the movie—with clear, valuable takeaways. if the trailer piques your interest, it definitely could be worth the watch.
