Trapped on a mysterious island, eighteen-year-old Riki finds refuge with four
strangers. Isaac, the rugged EMT, insists no one else is around, but Riki
cannot ignore her fear that someone is stalking her. Unless she finds a power
truly great enough to overthrow Darkness, Riki will choose death over returning
to captivity.
Lord
Vétis, high priest of a cultic underground, will stop at nothing to reclaim the
chosen one, but he must do so before her introduction to the real world ruins
her royal destiny. Using black magic, he manipulates Riki and her self-assigned
bodyguards, triggering a battle that consumes the entire island.
The underground will never
allow Riki to live out her dreams of a normal life… something she has never
known.

Marx’s Destiny Defied proved to be an interesting novel for me. Though
it did take me a handful of chapters to adjust to the supernatural, spiritual
aspects of the storyline, still I was hooked and intrigued from the start. A
group of four friends vacationing alone on an island find a girl stranded on
the beach and an action-filled, spirit-led, page-turning adventure ensues.
Filled with engaging spiritual discussions and relatable relationships, Destiny
Defied is a unique story that reminded me a lot of Frank Peretti’s novels
and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here. Any fan of
supernatural, spiritual thrillers will want to read Marx’s Destiny Defied.
I recommend it.
