Living Lies | First Line Friday + The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.
First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.

Happy Friday!

Natalie Walters' debut released this week! I'm a few chapters in, and so far, so good.

First Line: Just let go.

From Page 56: She was the epitome of a southern debutante. And a debutante never engaged in quarreling, though they made sure to express their displeasure in other ways, verbal or not.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In the little town of Walton, Georgia, everybody knows your name--but no one knows your secret. At least that's what Lane Kent is counting on when she returns to her hometown with her five-year-old son. Dangerously depressed after the death of her husband, Lane is looking for hope. What she finds instead is a dead body.

Lane must work with Walton's newest deputy, Charlie Lynch, to uncover the truth behind the murder. But when that truth hits too close to home, she'll have to decide if saving the life of another is worth the cost of revealing her darkest secret.

Debut novelist Natalie Walters pulls you to the edge of your seat on the first page and keeps you there until the last in this riveting story that will have you believing no one is defined by their past.

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

  1. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog I am sharing the first couple of lines from Becoming Us by Robin Jones Gunn: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/05/23/first-line-friday-88/. It’s the first book I’ve ever read by this author. So far I like it. I’m just getting into it, so I will share the first line from chapter 2 here.

“I returned to the great room and saw Jennalyn standing next to the kitchen counter.”

I hope you have a really great weekend. Happy reading! 🤗💜📚

  6. Happy Weekend! My first line is from "The Black Veil" by June Belfie:

"Rebecca Gingerich rested her hands on the the deep milk-white sill of the kitchen window and peered out from the clapboard farmhouse she'd been born in nearly twenty-three years ago to the day."

  7. I just finished this one and really enjoyed it!

My first line this week comes from Flight of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse, but I'm also listening to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens in audio book format at the moment, so I'm going to share the first line from Chapter 51:

What purpose I had in view when I was hot on tracing out and proving Estella's parentage, I cannot say.

    Have a great weekend!

Sorry I'm a little late coming around this weekend! The book I shared on my blog this week is Vigilant by Sara Davison but it's also the book I'm currently reading so I'll share the first line from my current chapter (22) here: "Daniel stared at the computer screen like he'd been doing for hours, his mind racing." Hope you have a wonderful weekend with plenty of quality reading time! :)
