The Happy Camper | First Line Friday + The Friday 56

First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.
The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.

Happy Friday!

Spring seems like the perfect time to pick up colorful books, like this new one from Melody Carlson.

First Line: Dillon Michaels was fed up—but it wasn't with dinner.

From Page 56: As Dillon wiped down the counters and stove and table, scrubbed the sink, and swept the floor, she could almost feel her grandmother's presence . . . and instead of feeling weary of the housework, she felt strangely soothed.

Home is the place to heal, right? At least, that's what Dillon Michaels is hoping as she leaves her disappointing career and nonstarter love life behind to help her grieving and aging grandfather on his small Oregon farm. The only problem? Her eccentric mother beat her there and has taken over Dillon's old room. After a few nights sleeping on a sagging sofa, Dillon is ready to give up, until she receives an unlikely gift--her grandfather's run-down vintage camp trailer, which she quickly resolves to restore with the help of Jordan Atwood, the handsome owner of the local hardware store.

But just when things are finally beginning to run smoothly, Dillon's noncommittal ex-boyfriend shows up with roses . . . and a ring.

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

  1. Happy Friday! My first line is from "A Latte Difficulty" by Angela Ruth Strong:

"Black is a good color for coffee, not bridesmaid dresses."

  2. What a cute camper. I used to know a couple who had a camper just like that one. Are you working/schooling from home these days? My Friday quotes and a review

  3. My book this week is Dead End by Nancy Mehl
Chief of Police Everett Sawyer stood over the body they’d just dug up in the old rail yard north of the city.

  4. The book cover is really cute. I also like the quotes.

  5. I love her stories!! Somehow I just know this is good too! :-)
    Happy weekend, stay safe!

  6. Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing the first lines from The Piper's Pursuit by Melanie Dickerson: "Did Katerina dare to stay out hunting past dark?"

  7. Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I shared the first line from Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese but I just started reading The Joy of Falling by Lindsay Harrel so I'll share the first line from chapter 3 here: "Few places reminded her more of Brent than the Saturday-morning farmers market." Hope you have a great weekend with some quality reading time :)

  8. That cover looks so happy. Thanks for sharing and happy reading. :)
