Jonah took over the questions. “Do you hold auctions?”
“Depends on what I find when I go through the houses. Some people have everyday items that sell well with a standard estate sale. Other people have incredibly valuable collections. Those I tend to put up online. I rarely do auctions.” She sipped her water. Waited to see if he’d maneuver for her help. But the question didn’t come, so she continued. “My goal is to keep doing estate sales, only less of them and eventually have my own antique store. A place where I can refurbish pieces and sell them, among other things.”
Gavin swirled his soda into a vortex with his straw. “You like old stuff then?”
“I like finding value in things where others don’t see it.”
Jonah tipped his head. “People often overlook priceless objects.”
The steel in his eyes cut at the protective layer around her heart. If she let him, he’d find a way in. That wasn’t going to happen.
