No Chance Meeting | Guest Post + Giveaway

ABOUT THE BOOK

Alex Jennings is done with life. After losing her brother in Afghanistan, everything has collapsed around her. Getting laid off from her day job and failing in her art career, she has nowhere left to turn. She once had faith to believe that all things would work together for good, but that faith died with her brother. Now she just wants the pain to end.

Riley Conrad served thirteen years in the military until three bullets sent him home. After a year and a half of physical therapy and scraping together a living, all he wants is to live a simple life and perhaps even open the coffee shop he dreams about. However, the weight of failing his parents’ expectations doesn’t make it easy, and working as a bartender isn’t getting him anywhere fast.

Could a “chance” meeting between Alex and Riley set them both on the path God always intended?

GUEST POST FROM THE AUTHOR

No Chance Meeting Character Casting

It’s always great for an author when they can have someone “cast” as their character. It really helps bring the character to life in our minds. Here are a few of my celebrity casting choices for the characters in No Chance Meeting.

Alex – I don’t actually have an actual casting choice for Alex, but if I absolutely had to pick someone, the closest actress to how I imagine her would be Blake Lively. She’s got the right hair, and if you give her freckles and a pair of dark-framed glasses, she’d be very similar to my vision of Alex.

Riley – In my mind, I see actor Christian Kane. I was binge-watching Leverage at the time of planning No Chance Meeting, and his character Eliot was the inspiration for Riley.

Zach – Right from the beginning, I cast Zachary Levi as Alex’s childhood friend. Um yeah, I even stole the name. He just fit the character perfectly.

Daniel Jennings (Alex’s Dad) – For the character of Daniel, I figured out pretty early on that I was picturing him as Russell Crowe. It seemed a perfect fit for Alex’s kind of quiet and stoic dad.

Phillip Conrad (Riley’s Dad) – I knew right away that actor Alan Dale would be the perfect fit for Riley’s dad. He’s got the type of voice that is perfect for such an imposing character.

Mark Conrad (Riley’s Brother) – For Mark, I had actor Paul Greene in mind. He just fit that older brother vibe.

Joe Preston (Riley’s Granddad) – I’m a big fan of the show, Blue Bloods, so it’s little wonder that, when it came to writing Riley’s granddad, actor Len Cariou came to mind. He’s the perfect granddad.

Luke Cahill – I’m not even sure why, but I always imagined Riley and Alex’s employer as Luke Evans, (yes, that’s the second name I stole), so it stuck.

James Moretti – Oddly, this was not a character I had cast from the beginning. I had something sort of different in my mind, but once I wrote Moretti’s scenes, he took on a life of his own and came alive in my mind as Robert Downey Jr. He just has that big personality.
