Cole followed Sierra, the baby and an officer into the house. He’d seen crime scenes in this condition of disarray but never one involving a woman he’d wanted to marry. His gaze drifted to her, and the fear in her eyes made his stomach clench. She was fortunate to be alive.
Sierra held Danny tight, staring at the chaos in her home before reaching into a camera bag for her phone. She worked around the baby to make the call to her sister and placed it on speakerphone.
“Hello there,” a man answered in a mocking tone. Her expression twisted into a state of horror. “You know what happens if you give my papers to those cops, Sierra.”
