He needs a nanny…
But what about love?
With two kids and a ranch to run, Bryce Carter needs a nanny for the summer. And professional barrel racer Carrie Rizzo might be perfect, at least until she returns to the rodeo in the fall. But while Carrie’s incredible with his kids, Bryce isn’t ready to open his family—let alone his heart—to anyone… even if she might be the perfect cowgirl for him.

review
carrie rizzo's only in high valley for the summer, and then, she's returning to the rodeo. widower bryce carter needs a nanny for his two children over the summer, while he's working on the ranch. it should be a simple situation, helping each other out—but it can't be quite that simple when feelings get involved.
from beginning to end, the cowgirl nanny is a sweet, feel-good story. the carter family is a pleasure with which to spend time—bryce's kids, especially, are adorable—and i always love the backdrop of montana.
at several points, however, i feel there were missed opportunities to add a bit of humor to the characters and their story. there's talk of grief, loss, and family expectations, and a few humorous moments would have really helped—especially because overall, it is a fairly low-stakes story. bryce must decide if he's ready to move forward after the loss of his wife, while carrie wrestles with not getting to attached if she's just going to leave. these inner conflicts start to feel overly drawn out by the second half, and i think humor could have added a little much-needed dimension.
still, the cowgirl nanny is an easy, quick, and summery read. if you're looking for a single-dad, found-family-on-a-ranch kind of contemporary romance, it could be perfect for you.
