The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 24 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
Time for the first Bout of Books read-a-thon in 2019! Here's what I'm hoping to read this week (but of course, I'll likely change my mind and read a bunch of other books instead, ha!):
An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason by Virginia Boecker
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B by Teresa Toten
* = started reading before January 7th
Throughout the read-a-thon week, I'll be posting here, on Twitter, and on Litsy (@hes7) with my progress. (Feel free to join the reading fun by signing up over at Bout of Books!)
Happy reading!
Monday, January 7th:
I'm off to a good start! Despite getting organized for a new semester of classes and reading a textbook or two, I managed to squeeze in plenty of time for fun reading. I finished two books I had previously started and then, enjoyed tackling a couple TBR books.
Books I read: The Last Guardian* (audiobook, finished), Every Breath (audiobook), The Marriage Bargain (finished), The Bridesmaid’s Hero* (finished)
The week’s total number of finished books: 3
Challenge: Introduce Yourself #insixwords

Tuesday, January 8th:
Lots of romance today and I loved it all! So much fun (but not enough homework, so tomorrow will involve a lot less reading).
Books I read: No Safe Place, Every Breath (finished), My Favorite Half-Night Stand (audiobook, finished), Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating (audiobook, finished)

Books I read: Meet the Sky (finished), These Vicious Masks (audiobook), No Safe Place
The week’s total number of finished books: 8
Friday, January 11th:

The week’s total number of finished books: 10
Challenge: If You Like This, Try That
If you like the pretending-to-be-in-a-relationship-for-some-reason-or-another romance trope as much as I do, then read one of these books. They're fun. #BoutOfBooks pic.twitter.com/0rHhIwNHyN— Hallie (@hszott) January 12, 2019

What a week! Even though I started classes and had plenty of homework to do, I still surprised myself and read a lot. And looking at all I finished, there's a definite theme of romance; I don't hate it. It's been fun. Here's a final recap:
Sometimes romance is so delightful to read! It makes for great readathon reads for me because they go so quick. Happy Bout of Books!
