The Heart of a King | First Line Friday + The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.
First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.

Happy Friday!

I received a lot of exciting book mail this week (Book Outlet got me again!), but this new book from Jill Eilleen Smith is particularly enticing. I always love her biblical fiction, so I'm looking forward to venturing into Solomon's Court.

First Line: The Teacher looked at his scroll, light dancing in little ringlets over the words from the flickering candle at his side.

From Page 56: Solomon nodded, feeling chastened but accepting the truth of his mother's words. She was right, of course.

ABOUT THE BOOK

King Solomon was wealthy and wise beyond measure. He could--and did--have anything he wanted, including many women from many lands. But for all his wisdom, did he or the women in his life ever find what they searched for all of their lives?

In this engrossing novel, you'll find yourself whisked away to ancient Israel, where you'll meet Solomon and four of the women he loved: Naamah the desert princess, Abishag the shepherdess, Siti the daughter of a pharaoh, and Nicaula the queen of Sheba. As you experience the world of Solomon through his eyes and the eyes of these women, you'll ask yourself the ultimate question: Did Solomon's wisdom ultimately benefit him and those he loved . . . or did it betray them?

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

On my blog, I'm sharing the first line of The Artful Match by Jennifer Delamere, but I'll share here from A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings. "First, you are going to write a good-bye letter to my sweetheart, and then you're going to marry me."

  3. Happy Friday!

This week on my blog I am sharing the first few lines from All Made Up by Kara Isaac. It's such a fantastic novel. I highly recommend it. You can go to my post by clicking the link: https://tinyurl.com/Friday83. Currently, I am reading Weddings, Willows, and Revised Expectations by V. Joy Palmer. It's really good. I'm on chapter seven, so I will share a line from there.

"Don't see me. Don't see me. Don't see me. 'Courtney!' Walk faster. Walk faster. Walk faster. 'Courtney!' Dallas yelled. 'Please! We need to talk.'"

Hope you have a blessed Easter weekend. Happy reading! 🙂❤️📚

  6. Happy Friday! I’m sharing from my current read, Spring Magic by D.E. Stevenson. This is the first line from Chapter 18:

“This was the day upon which Frances had been invited to take tea at the Castle, and, as always, there were half a dozen people ready and willing to advise her how to attain her objective.”

    Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
