A Trip to New Orleans | Darkwater Secrets by Robin Carroll

ABOUT THE BOOK

A murder investigation uncovers sordid secrets and haunting mistakes.

The Darkwater Inn stands tall and proud in the French Quarter, the hub of New Orleans. Bourbon Street is bustling, and General Manager Adelaide Fountaine has her hands full with a hotel at full capacity. She, along with everyone else, is shocked when a body is found: a hotel guest stabbed with a kitchen knife.

Detective Beau Savoie, Adelaide’s childhood friend, is on the case. As Beau digs into the victim’s past, he unearths a shocking connection between Adelaide and the murdered guest. Beau is hurt that his friend—the woman he’s quietly loved for years—kept the truth from him. And, to make matters worse, the stress of the investigation has sent Adelaide right into the comforting arms of her coworker Dimitri. But Beau can’t press Adelaide too hard . . . he’s keeping secrets of his own.

Can Adelaide and Beau afford to hide from the truth with a killer on the loose?

MY REVIEW

Take a trip to New Orleans in Robin Caroll’s Darkwater Secrets! With a historic inn, a murder, a whole lot of secrets, and three main characters to tell it all, it’s an intriguing read from beginning to end. I quite enjoyed seeing all the pieces of the mystery slowly and cleverly come together for the grand and satisfying revelationit did happen earlier than expected though, a quarter of the book left to read, and thus, felt slightly anticlimacticand Adelaide, Beau, and Dimitri proved to be wonderful characters with great development, despite their romantic complicationsI hope to see the three of them again soon in a second book. I had fun reading Darkwater Secrets, so if you like mystery and suspense, I’m sure you will, too.
