The Friday 56 & First Line Friday | The Neverending Story

The Friday 56 is hosted weekly by Freda's Voice.
First Line Friday is hosted weekly by Hoarding Books.

Happy Friday!

This week, I'm finally reading The Neverending Story. It's only been on my TBR for years, so it's about time...

First Line: This inscription could be seen on the glass door of a small shop, but naturally this was only the way it looked it you were inside the dimly lit shop, looking out at the street through the plateglass door.

From Page 56: That region, as Atreyu knew, was the home of bark trolls. These, as he had been told, were giants and giantesses, who themselves looked like gnarled tree trunks.

ABOUT THE BOOK
The classic tale of Bastian and the book that magically comes to life.

Bastian Balthazar Bux is shy, awkward, and certainly not heroic. His only escape is reading books. When Bastian happens upon an old book called The Neverending Story, he's swept into the magical world of Fantastica—so much that he finds he has actually become a character in the story! And when he realizes that this mysteriously enchanted world is in great danger, he also discovers that he has been the one chosen to save it. Can Bastian overcome the barrier between reality and his imagination in order to save Fantastica?

Now, feel free to leave a line from a book near you in the comments below.
And be sure to stop by Hoarding Books and Freda's Voice for a peek into other books.

“Before we were the Monsters of Brickhouse Lane – before everyone from Connecticut to California knew us by that tagline, and blogs ran pictures of our faces, and searching our names led to sites that crashed from all the names led to sites that crashed from all the traffic – we were just girls, and there were only two of us.”

Hope you enjoy the weekend! Happy reading! ❤️

  6. Happy Friday!

My first lines come from Killer Classics by Kym Roberts......

“Sugar did it.” Sugar’s mouth dropped open, and her eyes nearly popped out of her head at Reba Sue’s accusation. “Sugar didn’t kill anyone,” Leila argued. “The woman traps scorpions at the bar and releases them outside.” Leila shuddered, her round body jiggling from head to toe. “Stupid critters belong under a boot heel.”

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!💕📚💕

  9. Happy Friday! I’m sharing from an upcoming read, The Love Letter by Rachel Hauck, over on my blog today. Here are the first lines from the prologue, set during the American Revolution:

“He must finish. He must. Stumbling, he fell to the damp earth of the maple swamp with the click-slap of musket fire ringing through the cold dew, his breath billowing.”

Here, I am featuring lines from Dare to Love Again by Maddie Taylor. Here is the first line of chapter 13.
