The Mosaic Collection: Angela D. Meyer | Guest Post + Giveaway

For His glory…
The Mosaic Collection is an international community of women authors who use faith-based fiction to touch hearts with the good news that Christ’s finished work on the cross has made us one family, and to nurture affection for the people God has placed within our circles of influence, so that the grace and glory of God may become visible and personal to everyone we meet.

…and our good
We are sisters, a beautiful mosaic united by the love of God through the blood of Christ. We have experienced the redemptive, restorative power of God’s grace in our marriages and families, and we believe our God is able to heal, restore and redeem our brokenness. His love fills us with the courage to persevere, and to offer others a Christ-like compassion that is full of His wisdom and grace.

Out of the Mouth of Babes

We are a family who enjoys a good laugh. When we sit around the dinner table, our conversation can take interesting turns. Whether we follow Fezzik’s example in Princess Bride and begin rhyming words, seeing how long we can keep a rhyme going or someone introduces a pun and we continue adding to the farce with more puns on the same word, we like to laugh using words creatively.

We also tend to use lines of dialogue from movies for comedic turn of conversations. This began while the kids were young. When Monsters, Inc. came out, my son was 6, my daughter not even a year old. Within about a year, my son knew the lines well enough to show us up.

I don’t even remember what my husband and I were arguing about. I do remember we were in the kitchen facing each other across the kitchen island. I remember being dissatisfied with the direction of the disagreement and walking off. Little did I know that small ears were listening nearby.

Our son entered the kitchen and sidled up to the island across from his dad. “I think I’ll just go make some snow cones.”

As parents, we snickered behind our hand, but beyond the laughter we were thankful for a bit of comedic relief to break the tension. As to my son’s propensity to entertain in such a manner, I must report he did not choose to be a stand-up comedian. But perhaps the rest of the family could take the table time talk show on the road.

For those of you who have not watched Monsters, Inc. I recommend you find a copy and enjoy the show. If you don’t care to do that, then… (spoiler alert for those who plan to watch) …this line of dialogue occurred right after a scene of conflict between the two main characters in the movie. But it’s much more entertaining if you grab some popcorn and sit back and watch the show.

Angela D. Meyer lives in Nebraska with her husband of over 27 years. They have two children, both of whom they homeschooled and graduated. She is the author of the Applewood Hill series and is a contributor to The Benefit Package, a devotional compilation.

Angela graduated from college with a degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, but instead of working overseas, she spent several years in New England as a nanny. She co-teaches a women’s Bible study at her church and serves on the advisory board of her local Christian writers’ group, Wordsowers.

She enjoys the ocean, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and hopes to someday ride in a hot air balloon. Her aim in life is to love God and love others.

Cornerstone message from the collection: There is brokenness all around us and people turning to the wrong things for answers. Only God can make whole. I want my stories to be powerful in their showing of God’s truth, love and grace, lighting the path that leads directly to God.

I have experienced firsthand the redemptive, restorative power of God’s grace in my marriage and I want to share with others that.God is able to heal, restore and redeem any brokenness.
